Kateryna Boichuk – violin

Since childhood, she grew up in a creative atmosphere. Her mother Olha Boichuk is a famous cellist, teacher and concertmaster of the Rivne Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra. She was especially noted as a teacher of double bass. She has trained numerous winners of international competitions, prepared many students for admission to solo postgraduate studies in Ukraine, Poland, the UK, and others. Her father Petro Boichuk is an outstanding artist, architect, and designer. His architectural works of art adorn more than one city in Ukraine, and his unique watercolor works are known far beyond Europe.

Since her youth, Kateryna has shown remarkable aptitude for music and theoretical disciplines. As a student of only the 4th grade, she won the school’s graduation competition. Her piano playing did not go unnoticed either. Upon graduating from the Solomiya Krushelnytska Lviv Secondary Specialized Boarding School, Kateryna received an award in piano. Kateryna Boichuk is a winner of numerous international competitions, including the International J. Enescu Competition (2000, Romania), the International Competition “Silver Bell” (2003, Uzhhorod, Ukraine), the All-Ukrainian Violin Competition (2008, Lviv, Ukraine), the International Competition “Talents of the 21st Century”; in the quartet nomination (2009, Vorzel, Ukraine), the All-Ukrainian Competition “In the Blessing of Violinist’s Hands”; (2010, Ternopil, Ukraine).

her most significant achievement was winning the Gershwin International Competition (2017, New York, USA) and receiving a diploma for the best performance of French music.

Kateryna began her career at the Lviv Secondary Specialized Music Boarding School in the class of Oksana Tsap. Later, she continued her studies at the Tchaikovsky National Academy in Kyiv in the class of Professor Bohodar Kotorovych and Myroslava Kotorovych. She perfected her talent at the famous master classes of Professor Andrzej Kulka (Poland) and at the Margess-International master courses of Professor Vartan Manogyan (Switzerland).In parallel with her studies, Kateryna toured Ukraine extensively, brilliantly performing concerts by J. Brahms, J. Sibelius, P. Tchaikovsky, F. Mendelssohn, W.A.Mozart, A. Khachaturian, G. Veniavsky, a series of concerts “Seasons” Antonio Vivaldi, J.S. Bach and many others.

A five-year collaboration with the national chamber ensemble Kyiv Soloists added even more diversity to his career. He regularly tours Europe, participates in various festivals, including ChamberArtMusik, Gogol FEST, Britten International Festival, Allion-Balticfestival, as well as performances in Austria in honor of Ukraine’s inauguration to the OSCE and many others.She has collaborated with renowned conductors such as S. Sondetskis (Latvia), Young Chil Lee (Korea), K. Karabyts (Ukraine-UK), I. Longato (Italy-Switzerland), and R. Janssen (Holland). She became a regular participant in solo programs within the Concert Open project. She regularly participated in charity concerts. For the third year in a row, Kateryna has been successfully heading the city festival-competition of children and youth performing arts festival and competition for children and youth “Campanella”.

Currently, she is working in the first independent orchestra of Ukraine “Kyiv Virtuosos”, whose chief conductor is world-renowned musician, Grammy nominee Dmytro Yablonsky. The Virtuosos give about 10 concerts a month, which are always sold out.They perform on the stage of the Gabala International Festival, in the Center de Congress Le Regent in Crans-Montana under the direction of the outstanding violinist Shlomo Mintz. She has recorded chamber symphonies by Dmitri Shostakovich and music by Silvestrov, marking the beginning of a busy recording schedule for Naxos Records.

In recent years, Kateryna has been actively conquering Western Europe and America. She has given many solo concerts with famous Western European musicians. Collaboration with the famous pianist, composer, producer Michael Bulichov-Oxer (New York (USA), performances with the famous opera diva Olga Makarina (The Metropolitan Opera), in particular in Tallinn, Silamae Kultuurikeskus, Narva, Pärnu, Worms (Estonia), Rigas Latviosu biedriba Riga (Latvia), Palazzo Abbaziale di Loreto Avelino (Italy), Temppeliakio Church Helsinki (Finland), Brooklyn Public Library, Baruch Performing Arts Center New York (USA) and many others.
