Igor Zavgorodnii — violin

General information

Igor Zavgorodnii — violinist, violist, composer, multi-instrumentalist. Born in Volodymyr-Volynsky in the family of musicians. Graduate of Krushelnytska Specialized Music School in Lviv (class O. Tsap) and Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine (class of Prof. B. Kotorovich and T. Yaropud). He graduated from assistant-internship in the NMAU violin department (class of A. Bazhenov). He also studied at the International Summer Academy for Music, Beuggen (Prof. Kamilla Schatz) and in the International Summer Academy for Chamber Music in Lower Saxony, Frenswegen (Prof. Eberhard Feltz, Robin Island, Richard Island).

As a member of the quartet “Collegium” he studied at the Netherlands String Quartet Academy (Amsterdam) with the instructors Marс Danel, Stefan Metz, and Peter Krupper.

As a soloist and chamber player, he toured in Austria, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Germany, the Netherlands, Poland, Switzerland, Portugal. He performed with the National Academic Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, the Kyiv Chamber Orchestra, the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Ukrainian National Philharmonic, the National Chamber Ensemble “Kyiv Soloists”, the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Lviv Philharmonic, the Orchestra of the Pleven Philharmonic, the “New Era Orchestra”, the National Soloist Ensemble “Kyiv Camerata”, the Academic Chamber Orchestra “Virtuosos of Lviv”, the Orchestra of the Kharkiv Philharmonic, together with such conductors as Volodymyr Sirenko, Myroslav Skoryk, Winston Vogel (USA), Dieter Wagner (Switzerland), Rimma Sushanskaya (England), Roman Revakovich (Poland), and others.

Igor Zavgorodnii is a performer of numerous premieres of Ukrainian composers.

From 2009 to 2016 — violinist of the National Chamber Ensemble “Kyiv Soloists”.

He also is the violinist of the contemporary music ensemble “Ukho” (Kyiv) and chamber orchestra “New Era Orchestra”.

Since 2018 he participates in the project “Open Opera” as a performer on baroque viola.

Since 2012 he has been cooperating with the Lesia Ukrainka National Academic Theater of Russian Drama as a musician and actor. He is author of the monodrama “Sonata for Someone Alone”, whose premiere took place in Odessa in 2018.

Since July 2018 — the musical director of the project “Dyonys!SOS!” in the Theatrical Space TEO, Odessa.

Since 2018 — teacher of violin at the Glier Kyiv Institute of Music.
