Program

Recently, a violist from America, who has been working as a member of the Lviv National Philharmonic Academic Symphony Orchestra for several years, made a gift to the viol group of his native orchestra – he purchased 4 musical instruments! And this evening there will be a musical demonstration of the new instruments, which you will be able to hear in the outstanding works of Arnold Schoenberg and Johannes Brahms.

Tobias Roth (USA), concertmaster of the viola group of the Lviv National Symphony Orchestra: “I realized a long time ago that I was working with a very good group of violists, but in Ukraine it is not always possible to play good instruments. I wanted to find a way to provide them with better instruments, because they deserve it, but I didn’t know how to implement it, and at the time it seemed like a fantasy. However, it happened that my father died and left me some money. Thanks to this money, I bought new instruments.

This charitable initiative of mine is also a tribute to my father, because he was a concertmaster, and choreographer, and supported me when I was in Ukraine. At the same time, these instruments will be a memory of my father and a worthy gift to the musicians with whom I am very happy to collaborate.

The program of the concert consists of chamber music, which clearly demonstrates the capabilities of the sometimes underrated instrument of the viola.”
