Born in the city of Villach, Austria, Georg Kugi received his first diploma as a flutist at the Klagenfurt Conservatory.
Continuing his studies at the Vienna University of Music he finished his master in music education including flute, piano and conducting.
From 1985 Georg Kugi was music director of the Bretterhaus Theatre, Vienna, and subsequently collaborated with the Vienna Chamber Opera, the Theater an der Wien.and the Vienna State Opera
Georg Kugi has been a guest conductor of numerous wellknown orchestras in Europe and abroad, among them Zagreb Philharmonic, Toronto Philharmonia, Hungarian Symphony Orchestra Budapest, Janacek Philharmonic Ostrava, Slovak Chamber Orchestra Zilina, Cappella Istropolitana Bratislava, Virtuoso di Praga, and Wieniawski Philharmonic Lublin as well as K&K Philharmiker, appearing all over Europe as well as Canada and Mexico.
Since 2003 he has been holding the position of a principal conductor and artistic director of the four-nations-orchestra International Danube Philharmonic and from 2015 as 1.Guest Conductor of INSO Lviv.
As a long term member of the renowned ensemble VIENNA FLAUTISTS Georg Kugi has as well experienced intensely in the field of chamber music, recording numerous CDs and touring afour continents
Since 1994 Georg Kugi holds a Professorship for orchestra, choir and music theory at the Vienna Musikgymnasium.
