Peter Svensson – tenor (Austria-Germany)

General information

Heldentenor Peter Svensson was born in Vienna and started his musical life as a soprano soloist of the famous Vienna Boys Choir. His musical education was at the Vienna Conservatory and at Vienna’s University of Music and Performing Arts, where he studied under Fritz Uhl. Further studies were with James King, and in Berlin under Reiner Goldberg and Rene Kollo. Awarded a scholarship by the Richard Wagner Society, he was also a prizewinner of the Richard Tauber Singing Competition. He first joined the Wiener Staatsoper with a beginner’s contract and then became a permanent guest member of the Prague State Opera. This launched his international career, taking him to principal opera houses and concert halls throughout the world.
