Uliana Makieieva – oboe

General information

Uliana Makieieva was born in Kharkiv. She was graduated from Kharkiv Special Music School with two diplomas: Oboe and Theory of Music. In 2011 she completed her Oboe Master Degree in Kharkiv State University of Arts with excellence. She has received several diplomas: Concert artist, Orchestra artist, Chamber music artist, Research scientist, High education teacher. She studied with professor Vladimir Lebedev and senior teacher Viktoria Karelova. In 2014 Uliana completed her Postgraduate studies in the Kharkiv State University of Arts.

Uliana has won several international and national competitions including: Eugen Coca International Competition (Chisinau, Moldova), “Blue Bird” (Simferopol, Ukraine), “Kharkiv Assemblies” (Kharkiv, Ukraine), Dmytro Bida International Competition (Lviv, Ukraine), Volodymyr Antonov National Competition (Kyiv, Ukraine). She took a part in master classes by prof. Alexey Ogrintchouk, prof. Carsten Eckert, prof. Alfredo Bernardini. Several years in a row Uliana got President of Ukraine Scholarship, also she was fellowship of Eugen Kushnaryov Foundation and “Renaissance” Foundation. She has given concerts and has participated in festivals through out Ukraine (Kharkiv, Feodosia, Lviv, Sumy, Poltava, Zhytomir, Chernigiv, Odessa, Kyiv), and also in Russian Federation and Moldova.

While her studying in the school she started her professional career as an orchestra musician in Kharkiv Youth Symphony Orchestra “Slobozhanskiy”. She has worked as principal oboe at Chernigiv Academic symphony orchestra “Philharmony”, as co-principal oboe at Odessa National Opera and Ballet Theater and from 2013 to 2020 was principal oboe of Odessa Philharmonic Orchestra. Uliana has been invited for several years as the principal oboe for the orchestra of Tolyatti “Classic Above Volga” Festival and Tolyatti “Classic Open Fest” and also in Kharkiv Chamber Orchestra “Fortunati”.

Since 2020 Uliana is a full-time employed principal oboe at the Lviv National Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra.
