Myron Yusypovych – conductor (UA)

General information

Myron Yusypovych began his career as a conductor in 1982 at the Ivan Franko Lviv State Opera and Ballet Theatre.

In 1994-1995, Myron Yusypovych was Principal Conductor of the Lviv Opera House. During his tenure, he produced the opera Aida’ by G. Verdi and by cooperating with SANNI PRESENTA, an Italian artistic fed the production for 6 performances in Rome and 19

In 1999-2001, Myron Yusypovych became Artistic Director of the Lviv Opera House. For the first time in the history of the Lviv Opera House, an extensive European tour was conducted featuring the
operas Nabucco and Aida by G. Verdi. In cooperation with the Austrian company Da Capo Muskmarketing GmbH (Austria), the Lviv Opera received high acclaim in the Western press and M. Yusypovych (in 2004 and 2002), a special diploma and award from German and Austrian music critics.

In 2002, M. Yusypovych was approached by Da Capo Muskmarketing GmbH to help found and lead the K&K Philharmoniker and later in 2004, the K&K Opernchor,

From the beginning of his conducting career, M. Yusypovych has conducted approximately 60 different operas, ballets, operettas and over 300 pieces of symphonic and chamber music in Ukraine and
beyond its borders – in theatres and concert halls, at international music festivals leading various orchestras and opera companies around, He has presented international and Ukrainian classical and
opera music on some of the most prestigious stages of Europe…

M. Yusypovych’s conducting repertoire includes his favourite Viennese classics and the Romantic music of the 19″ century, as well as, the great works of 20″ century composers, including: Symphonies
N® 8, N° 14 and N° 45 by D. Shostakovich, Concerto for Orchestraby W. Lutoslawski, Taras Bulba Rhapsody by L. Janacek, Symphony N? 3 by B. Liatoshynsky, Hutsul Triptych for Symphony Orchestra by M. Skoryk, concertos and chamber music by B. Britten, A. Schnittke, G Kancheli, Y. Stankovych, L. Janacek, G. Bacewicz. :

5 Within M. Yusypovych’s creative output there is a special place for his personal literary-musical and theatrical concerts and shows:
Commemorative concert for the victims of the Holodomor 1932.33 in Ukraine (2005, 2008, 2011), Commemorative concert for the victims of NKVD attrocities committed in 1944 on the grounds of the Lontsky Prison, Lviv (2013), Harmony of the Spheres, a visual in sound project dedicated to the 80″ birthday of Y. Lysyk, a well-known artist and stage designer, an original stage version of the Symphony-Cantata Kavkaz by S. Liudkevych on the occasion of the 200″ anniversary of T. Shevchenko’s birth (2014), Commemorative concerts on the anniversaries of famous Ukrainian opera singers lra Malaniuk (2010) and Modest Mencinsky (1995).

M. Yusypovych has written several anthologies of poetry which have been published by «Spolom» (Lviv) – To Take or Not to Take.a Violin in Hand (2009), Were It Only For Love (2010)and Harmony of
the Spheres(2012).

Since 1994, M. Yusypovych has been frequently interviewed and has personally published his views on issues related to opera theatre reform in Ukraine in The Day (Den), Mirror Weekly (Dzerkalo tyzhnia) and Postup newspapers.

M. Yusypovych is a member of the National Association «Writers of Boykivschyna». In 2012, for his achievements in the literary-arts and social-community activities M. Yusypovych was named to the Golden Fund of Boykivschyna.
