Taras Verhun – conductor

General information

Graduated from the conducting faculty of the Opera and Symphonic Conducting Chair of the LNMA named after M. Lysenko (class of prof. T. Lysenko-Didula, 2015). Laureate of the First Prize of the All-Ukrainian Festival of Conducting Art “Music Tavria” in Kherson (April 2016). Member of the 3rd International Forum of Young Conductors in Zelena Gur (Poland).

From the students’ time Taras Vergun is an active participant in the musical life of the academy and Lviv. Cooperated with the student symphony orchestra of LNMA named after M. Lysenko under the supervision of a prof. Z. Ostafiychuk (2009-2015); with the symphony orchestra of the opera studio under the LNMA them. M. Lysenko (2008-2015); with the Cantabile Orchestra Lviv Symphony Orchestra (2013-2014); the ensemble of contemporary music “ConstantY” (conductor O. Manulyak, 2015), as well as the Academic Chamber Orchestra “Virtuosos of Lviv” (Associate Professor S. Burko, 2016).

In 2009 took part in the master class of the Polish conductor, professor Boguslaw Dawidow2014  master class by American conductor Douglas Droste at the Lviv regional philharmonic society. In 2015, he was a participant in the preparation of the premiere performance of the Amazon opera by J. Elsner and the master classes Dr. Angelika Moths.

In March 2016, he takes part in the III International Forum of Young Conductors, Zielona Góra. In the framework of the forum, he conducted rehearsals and conducted a concert with the symphony orchestra of Zelenogursk Philharmonic under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Czesław Grabowski. In the same year he became the winner of the First Prize of the All-Ukrainian Festival-Contest of Conductor Art “Musical Tavria” in Kherson.

He actively cooperates with the Academic Chamber Orchestra “Virtuosos of Lviv“, with whom he concerts on the stage of the Lviv Philharmonic. As a conductor, he participates in the Festival of Contemporary Music of Lviv Composers, where he conducts works by V. KaminskyO. KozarenkoM. SkorykZ. Almashi, L. SydorenkoO. Manulyak, as well as at X musical meetings of Polish and Ukrainian Youth (September-October 2016).
