Cappella Palatina Heidelberg (DE) – Cappella

General information

The tradition of the Cappella Palatina Heidelberg as choir of the city church Jesuitenkirche Heidelberg dates back to the performance of Haydns Creation conducted by Prof. Dr. Rudolf Walter on May 16th, 1971. Since then the Cappella Palatina has been conducted by Karl-Ludwig Nies, Jürgen Maag and Thomas Berning. In January 2007 KMD Dr. Markus Uhl took over the leadership of the choir as Director of Music at Jesuitenkirche.

The choirs main focus exists in regularly performing a wide ranging repertoire of important works of church music by exploring its diversity as well as singing the liturgy during the services in the Jesuitenkirche. Apart from regular performances at home and abroad, the Cappella Palatina excels itself with unconventional interpretations of oratories off the beaten track and is known for its homogeneous, transparent and rhetoric sound.
