Mykola Havyuk – violin

General information

Mykola Haviuk began his violin studies at the Solomiya Krushelnytska’s Music School for gifted students in Lviv, Ukraine under the tutelage of Oksana Tsap. During this time he was participating at many International Competitions. He was a 3rd prize winner of The quest for talents (Dolny Kubin, Slovakia), 2nd prize winner of International Competition named by Mikhail Elsky, in Minsk Belorussia.

In 2005 Mykola continued his education at the Mykola Lysenko’s Lviv National Music Academy with professor Wolodymyr Zaranskiy. He participated in several masterclasses with many famous professors such as, Viktor Abramyan (Russia), Mark Lakirovich ( USA), Melisa Mellinger (Germany), Мichael Stricharz (Germany), Ivry Gitlis ( France).

In 2010 Mykola was a 2nd prize winner of National Violin Competition in Ternopil, Ukraine. He was also a participant at the International Violin Competition Remember Enescu (Sinaia,Romania), Virtuosos of XXI Century (Moscow, Russia), Leos Janacek International Competition (Brno, Czech Republic ). Mykola has performed at numerous international festivals, some of which are, Contrasts (Lviv, Ukraine), Summer Music Evenings in Kyiv (Kyiv, Ukraine), Festival Improvisation (Lviv, Ukraine), Lviv Virtuosy (Lviv, Ukraine), Fest der innenhofe&museumsnachte (Freiburg, Deutschland), Festiwal im. Franciszka Wybranczyka Sinfonia Varsovia swojemu miastu (Warszawa, Poland). Spaces of Music (Poland), Mag festival (Split, Croatia), Music on the street (Bad Ragaz, Shwitzerland).

Mykola performed as soloist with Kyiv Symphony Orchestra, Lviv Philharmonic Orchestra, and many others. He has collaborated with such outstanding musicians as Yuriy Bervetsky, Olena Korolenko, Roman Revakovich, Viktor Zdorenko, Melani Mestre, Misha Katz.

Since 2007 he has been first violin of string quartet “Phoenix” which performs regularly in Europe, the United States, and Asia. Mykola was also Concertmaster and soloist of Academic Symphony Orchestra “INSO-Lviv” from 2013-2015. In 2015 he was a winner of the Gaude Polonia Professional Scholarship from the Polish Minister of Culture. As a result, he studied at Fryderyk Chopin Music University in Warsaw with professor Janusz Wawrowsky.

Since 2015 Mr. Haviuk is on a faculty at the Mykola Lysenko’s Lviv National Music Academy. He has also served as Concertmaster of the Lviv National Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra since 2019.
