The famous pianist Jozsef Örmény once said about Sylvestrov’s music: “I feel that his works conceal a very important message for the world and for humanity. It is difficult to express what this message is, but I feel that this process is close to the spontaneous genesis of the music’s essence: the idea slowly develops, and a certain contour of the melody is building out of nothing, out of chaos, brick by brick”.
The works that will be performed in the program belong to the 21st century. During this time, the creativity of probably the most popular Ukrainian composer in the world has changed. But the author’s signs remain unmistakably recognizable: musical transparency and metaphoric light, which is rare for an era of brutal alterations and wars.
As a result of full-scale Russian aggression, Valentyn Sylvestrov was forced to leave his home in Kyiv and become a refugee in Europe. However, his music continues to sound, sharing the value of the moment, the fragility of human existence, and giving hope for life.
