March at the Philharmonic is a bouquet of diverse musical events: theatrical and ballet performances, baroque spectacles, jazz evenings, and exquisite classical concerts.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Sunday 02.03.2025 \/ 15:00. Lesia\u2019s Parlor<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

The performance “Conversation” based on a short story by Lesia Ukrainka. A tribute to the 154th anniversary of Lesia Ukrainka\u2019s birth featuring actress Lidiia Danylchuk, soprano Sofia Soloviy, and pianist Oksana Rapita.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

The performance will also include the presentation of the painting “Lesia” by renowned Ukrainian post-impressionist and expressionist artist Mykhailo Demtsiu.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sunday 02.03.2025 \/ 19:00. Spring Elegy<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

Elegiac, lyrical, and deeply heartfelt \u2013 Ukrainian music is recognized worldwide for these qualities. To preserve native melodies for centuries to come, Ukrainian composers have crafted a unique formula intertwining folk expression with refined instrumental sound.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thus, the Philharmonic\u2019s spring season will begin with a carefully selected program of works by Ukrainian classical music masters performed by the Academic Chamber Orchestra “Virtuosos of Lviv,” conducted by Volodymyr Syvohip, featuring soloists: soprano Sofiya Soloviy and pianist Violina Petrychenko.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thursday 06.03.2025 \/ 19:00. Jazz Improvisations by Oleksandr Saratskyi<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

The program will include arrangements of Ukrainian folk songs, piano works, improvisations, jazz standards, and global hits. The Lviv premiere of Oleksandr Saratskyi\u2019s Piano Concerto No. 9 (with an improvisational piano part) will be a special highlight.<\/span><\/p>\n

This concert is part of a nationwide tour, through which the composer and pianist aims to inspire and uplift audiences with exquisite music during these challenging times of war.<\/span><\/p>\n

Friday 07.03.2025 \/ 18:00. Cossacks of Podillia: Choir, Ballet, Orchestra<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

An enchanting tapestry of Ukrainian folk songs and traditional dances from various regions of our diverse and vast Ukraine \u2013 this is how one can briefly describe the concert being prepared for you by the magnificent “Cossacks of Podillia.”<\/span><\/p>\n

On March 7, join us in diving into the wellsprings of folk wisdom and enjoying all the colors of Ukrainian art! Stunning choreographic compositions, soul-touching songs, a breathtaking stage spectacle \u2013 all this and much more await you this evening!<\/span><\/p>\n

Saturday 08.03.2025 \/ 18:00. Breath<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

As spring awakens outside the window and every breath is filled with freshness and light, the soul longs to sing. A dreamy and uplifting vocal evening with the INSO-Lviv Orchestra, the “Dumka” Choir, and exceptional soloists Tetiana Zhuravel, Volodymyr Shchihil, and Maksym Salnikov, under the baton of the magnetic conductor Raymond Janssen, will take place on the first Saturday of spring \u2013 March 8.<\/span><\/p>\n

The concert program will feature operatic masterpieces that inspire, uplift, move, and captivate. Exquisite arias, passionate duets, and grand choral scenes will transport you to a world of profound emotions and breathtaking bel canto beauty.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sunday 09.03.2025 \/ 17:00. Music and Poetry: Taras Shevchenko<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

To commemorate Taras Shevchenko\u2019s birthday, the National Choir “Dudaryk” is preparing a special evening where the poetry of the great Kobzar will come alive through contemporary musical interpretations! From classical to jazz, from choral grandeur to chamber lyricism \u2013 this evening will reveal the depth and strength of Ukrainian poetic tradition.<\/span><\/p>\n

The event will feature not only Taras Shevchenko\u2019s poetry but also works by Hrytsko Chubai, Vasyl Stus, Viktor Neborak, Yuriy Izdryk, and Serhiy Zhadan \u2013 offering a poetic and musical perspective on Ukraine.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tuesday 11.03.2025 \/ 19:00. Colorless Moon<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

For Serene de Labom, the emotional aspect is paramount, as the purpose of her visits remains to provide moral support to Ukrainians. Over the past three years, the soloist has given more than ten concerts in Lviv and has actively performed in support of Ukraine across European countries.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/span><\/p>\n

In recent years, Serene\u2019s programs have expanded to include Ukrainian music, and this evening will feature vocal works by Myroslav Skoryk, as well as “Three Inventions for Four Melodic Instruments” by Oleksandr Kozarenko.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wednesday 12.03.2025 \/ 19:00. El Gran \u00c1stor. FueGo Orchestra<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

The FueGo Orchestra quartet will take the stage, enchanting listeners with the refined melodies of Astor Piazzolla\u2019s tango and other masterpieces that reveal a palette of passion, tenderness, and drama. The music will come to life in a new light thanks to the vibrant interpretations of this talented ensemble.<\/span><\/p>\n

Adding to the atmosphere, poet Andriy Permyakov will take on the role of Astor Piazzolla, transporting you through words into the world of the genius maestro.<\/span><\/p>\n

Friday 14.03.2025 \/ 19:00. Penderecki, Liszt, Brahms<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

Lord Byron\u2019s epic poem “Mazeppa” became one of the most influential artistic works in history, and another prominent Romantic-era composer, Franz Liszt, also took on this popular theme. His primary goal was not only to musically depict humanity\u2019s struggle against nature but also to present Mazeppa, who rises after a fall to become a great leader among men. Continuing the Romantic spirit, Johannes Brahms\u2019 Symphony No. 1 will also be performed. The composer\u2019s excessive self-criticism and high expectations left little room for confidence in the young Brahms.<\/span><\/p>\n

Complementing these two works, the program will also feature Krzysztof Penderecki\u2019s Concerto for Viola and Symphony Orchestra. Despite the modernist era\u2019s rejection of Romanticism, the concerto\u2019s main theme remains a sigh and a poignant monologue, elevating the viola\u2019s voice from the depths of the human soul.<\/span><\/p>\n

Sunday 16.03.2025 \/ 11:30. The Adventures of Vesnyanka<\/b><\/a><\/p>\n

“The Adventures of Vesnyanka” is a unique ballet by renowned Ukrainian composer Zhanna Kolodub, written especially for children!<\/span><\/p>\n

In collaboration with the ballet school-theater “L.Stage,” we are preparing a special event\u2014a children\u2019s ballet. A magical and vibrant spectacle that, in addition to exquisite costumes, weightless choreography, and beautiful music, will bring many surprises for the audience. No one tells a fairytale story better than children.<\/span><\/p>\n
