Discover what will be heard at the Philharmonic in the final months of the 122nd concert season in our calendar:<\/b><\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/philharmonia.lviv.ua\/event\/tanho-valsy-fokstroty\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thursday 12.06.2025 \/ 19:00. Tangos. Waltzes. Foxtrots\u2026<\/span><\/a><\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b><i>To mark the 110th anniversary of the birth of Bohdan Vesolovsky<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The composer\u2019s song legacy includes over 100 pieces. In the early period of his creativity, they were mostly modeled after the popular Western pop music of the time, in a style Vesolovsky began to develop in Lviv. However, Vesolovsky\u2019s rich inner world and the circumstances he faced led some songs \u2014 while still rooted in personal emotions and popular rhythms \u2014 to gain a powerful civic resonance. One such example is the song \u201cFly, sorrowful song,\u201d which became an anthem of Ukrainian post-war emigration in Canada.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Vasyl Slipak Memorial Marathon.<\/b><\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>The marathon is dedicated to the memory of VASYL SLIPAK \u2014 an outstanding Ukrainian opera singer, soloist of the Paris National Opera, volunteer, participant in combat actions in Eastern Ukraine, Hero of Ukraine, and recipient of the Order &#8220;For Courage&#8221; I degree.<\/b><\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/philharmonia.lviv.ua\/event\/maraton-pam-iati-vasylia-slipaka-na-chasi\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Saturday 28.06.2025 \/ 16:00. TIMELY<\/span><\/a><\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Small Concert Hall named after Vasyl Barvinskyi (Lviv State Music Lyceum named after Solomiya Krushelnytska. 10 Zelena St.)<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>\u201cTimely\u201d: an author\u2019s project by Stanislav Badrak.<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a difficult time for the country, the music of Mykola Lysenko resonates with exceptional relevance. LIGHT IN THE SHADOW: BLACK AND RED<\/span><\/a><\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is said that to better sense an aroma, one should close their eyes \u2014 the absence of one sense enhances the others. A childhood illness plunged Czech composer Josef Labor into total darkness when he was only three. Shadows of Three: Schubert. Schumann. Takemitsu<\/span><\/a><\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The viola demands special delicacy from composers \u2014 which is why this instrument is most appreciated by musical gourmets and lovers of unique timbres. T\u014dru Takemitsu called his music a garden and himself \u2014 a gardener. Meanwhile, Franz Schubert\u2019s groundbreaking song cycle astonishes with its intense expression of personal feelings \u2014 rendered through a lyrical tenor voice (interpreted here by viola) and a rich, masterful piano part. Symphony of Freedom<\/span><\/a><\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Freedom, identity, the power to express and to impress \u2014 these values need strong defense today. Symphony of Recovery. Season Closing Concert<\/span><\/a><\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>On July 13, the birthday of the outstanding composer and patron of the Lviv National Philharmonic, Myroslav Skoryk, a commemorative concert will be held. Traditionally, this day marks the end of the Philharmonic season.<\/b><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The evening will begin with the Ukrainian composer\u2019s \u201cElegy\u201d \u2014 a tender greeting from the Maestro to his native Philharmonic and devoted listeners. The full energy and color of Skoryk\u2019s style will be heard in the \u201cCarpathian Concerto.\u201d Mythical moods \u2014 this time of the island of Lesbos, not the Carpathians \u2014 will continue in Maurice Ravel\u2019s *Daphnis et Chlo\u00e9* symphonic fragments. In contrast to his idealized musical vision of antiquity, Ravel\u2019s Piano Concerto for the Left Hand in D major tackles the challenges of his interwar time. The concerto was commissioned by Austrian pianist Paul Wittgenstein, whose brilliant career was interrupted by WWI and the loss of his right arm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the final evening of the season, the tenderness of Ravel\u2019s music and the power of human will shall come alive through the performance of the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Lviv National Philharmonic and soloist Violina Petrychenko, under the direction of conductor Hobart Earle.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><b>Also, a reminder: the exhibition \u201cAffinity\u201d \u2014 an art project by Roman and Taras Opalinskyi dedicated to the 44th \u201cVirtuosos\u201d Festival \u2014 continues in the Foyer of the Lviv National Philharmonic.
