Program

Symphonic music can seem difficult to understand. To demand thoughtful listening, knowledge of the circumstances in which it was created or what exactly the composers put into its content. But the moderators of the concert will tell you more about this component of the music. During the actual listening, we offer to immerse ourselves in the world of shadows, nuances, enjoyment of colorful sounds and a subtle aftertaste: the Lviv National Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra has prepared a program of masterpieces of world and Ukrainian musical classics.

So all the roads of this concert will first lead to Rome, where the wealth of picturesque pictures of nature will resound through the music of the Italian Ottorino Respighi. And then there is the fantastic Piano Concerto by Valentyn Bibik, a special figure of the 20th century for our art. This music is extremely rarely heard on Ukrainian stages, this year it will be performed by the famous soloist Oleh Bezborodko. We also invite you to hear the famous romantic Symphony No. 3 by Johannes Brahms, performed by the Academic Symphony Orchestra under the direction of the well-known conductor Viktor Ploskina. The title of the concert “Between Eras” reflected the desire to both draw parallels between these works, and to show the diversity of symphonic music, which you don’t need to know for sure to understand: and this universality is its special beauty.
