He gave his country the talents of geniuses, the future of twentieth-century Polish music: Artur Rubinstein, Karol Szymanowski, Mieczysław Karłowicz. This was the contribution of the philanthropist Władysław Lubomirski, to whom the festival is dedicated.
History ruthlessly forgets the names of those who contributed to the formation of individual artists and entire schools. For a long time, the support of the aristocrat Lubomirski was not mentioned because it contradicted Soviet views. Now we have the opportunity to restore historical justice and return the name of Prince Lubomirski to the list of the most prominent figures in Poland, and to thank him for discovering the talents of world-famous composers.
Traditionally, Lubomirski Festival takes place in autumn in concert halls in Poland and Ukraine. This year, the Lubomirski Festival will feature three concerts at the Lviv National Philharmonic, which will not only bring together music by composers supported by the festival patron, but also open the curtain on the life of the patron himself.

The intense and sensual Ukrainian-Polish programme will combine compositions for a string quartet by four artists: Oleksandr Kozarenko, Hanna Havrylets, Myroslav Skoryk and Karol Szymanowski. This is a kind of retrospective of the twentieth century genre, a selection of the artists’ best examples of chamber music.
The war has affected the music community particularly hard with the untimely deaths of two artists of incredible talent – Hanna Havrylets (27 February 2022) and Oleksandr Kozarenko (21 March 2023). In both works, which were dedicated to the memory of the composers, will showcase the bright melodic and rhythmic richness and vivid folklore structure characteristic of western Ukraine. The national roots and depth of traditions, which the authors nurtured with the help of excellent teachers, were certainly significant for the works of Skoryk and Szymanowski. However, time turned out to be the best teacher – like the phoenix, it rises from the ashes of oblivion and burns with the hot breath of modernity. It inspires artists and performers to give their art, which is necessary for the audience.
