On August 8-10, as part of the XX Festival of Early Music in Lviv, the famous German musician Norbert Rodenkirchen will hold master classes for Ukrainian flautists and improvisation sessions with Lviv musicians in the Experimental Studio of Electroacoustic Music of the Mykola Lysenko Lviv National Academy of Music. He will also give a lecture entitled: “New Sounds in Ancient Music / Ancient Sounds in New Music”, which will familiarize listeners with the issues of contemporary performing techniques in ancient music and old techniques in modern music.
Together with Norbert Rodenkirchen, the famous Lviv musician and multi-instrumentalist Vsevolod Sadovyi will hold an educational lecture-presentation. The focus of the research is the natural patterns of early musical practices: interest in sound creation, instrumentation, musical form — as a reflection of cultural evolution and development of consciousness.
A separate important part of the Laboratory will be the studio work of musicians on a modern ensemble work on the themes of the Voynich manuscript: a specific controversial historical source will become the basis for a musical experiment on the practical interpenetration of ancient and modern performance techniques.
