Cornelia Sonnleithner – mezzo soprano

General information

Born in Vienna. Cello education from the age of 8, piano lessons from the age of 11. Attended the musical grammar school in Vienna. Studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Classical operetta course at the Music and Arts University Vienna. Afterwards private studies with Constantin Zaharia and now with Uta Schwabe. Masterclasses with KS Vesselina Kasarova and Stephan Matthias Lademann.

In 2010 finalist at the international singing competition “Klassikmania” and in 2015 finalist at the international Nico Dostal singing competition.

Member of the Vienna State Opera Choir from September 2012 to August 2018.

Performances as a soloist singer in the field of opera: 2007 „Brautjungfer“ in C. M. v. Webers „Der Freischütz“ (M. Stenz/F. Richter) at the Salzburg Festival. 2008 Carinthischer Sommer („Maria von Ägypten“ von Sir J. Tavener). Divers soli at the

Vienna State Opera (a.o. „Lehrbub“ in „Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg“, „A fisher woman“ in „Peter Grimes“, „Edelknabe“ in „Lohengrin“, „Henne“ in „Das schlaue Füchslein“, „Dienerin“ in „Elektra“). 2015 and 2016 „Bauernmädchen“ in W. A. Mozarts „Le nozze di Figaro“ (D. Ettinger/S. E. Bechtolf) at the Salzburg Festival. 2016 „Madrigalistin“ in G. Puccinis „Manon Lescaut“ (M. Armiliato) at the Salzburg Festival.
Regular concerts as a soloist singer as well as engagements in churches in Austria (a.o. Musikverein/Wien, Konzerthaus/Wien, Haydnsaal/Eisenstadt, Carinthischer Sommer, Wiener Stephansdom, Augustinerkirche, Peterskirche) as well as international (a.o. Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Korea, Spain) for example with pieces from A. Vivaldi, G. Ph. Telemann, J. S. Bach, G. F. Händel, M. A. Charpentier, G. P. Pergolesi, J. Haydn, W. A. Mozart, F. Schubert, J. Brahms, C. Saint-Saens, A. Dvorak, H. Grassl, and many more.

Soloist at the Haydn-Festival 2015 in Eisenstadt in F. Schuberts Schauspielmusik zu „Rosamunde“ conducted by Adam Fischer as well as at the Salzburg Aspekte-Festival 2018 and at the Bach-Festival Budapest 2018.

Song Recital Duo with the Austrian pianist Andreas Gaurish Mersa.

Member of the „Ensemble Aerosonus“ (www.aerosonus.com), the „Vienna Vocal Consort“ (www.vocalconsort.com), the „Vokalensemble Alxingers“ (www.alxingers.com) as well as of the „Capella San Filippo“ and the Ensemble „Dionysos“.
