Kenji Wakai – tenor (Japan)

Kenji Wakai, Tenor
He graduated from masters degree course of post graduate school  of Tokyo University of Arts.
When he was a student, he debuted as a soloist of “Revived Beethoven’s Symphony No.9”  at Naruto City where German P.O.W firstly played the Symphony in a war prison there in 1918. The concert was nationally broadcasted by JAPAN TV.
He has been on the stages also abroad in Austria as a soloist of religious music, missa, cantata. He played with Bucharest Philharmonic and Stara Zagora Opera Symphony Orchestra.
He acted major roles in operas like “Nasuno Yoichi”, “Wiener Blut”, “Ryujin no Gyoku”, “Cavalleria Rusticana”, “Ougi no Mato” and etc..
In 2000 he studied at Graz University, Australia and Munich, Germany as a scholarship researcher sent by Ministry of Culture, Japan.
He is the director of Shikoku Nikikai Opera.
