Symphony Orchestra of the Opera Studio of Lviv National Academy of Music

General information

Symphony Orchestra of the Opera Studio of the Lviv National Musical Academy named after Mykola Lysenko was created in 1959 as a separate unit of the conservatory. Almost 70 years of its existence, many operas were staged, including «Madame Butterfly» by J. Puccini, «Boris Godunov» by M. Musorhskyi, «Secret Marriage» by D. Chimarosa, «The Pearl Finders» by J. Bizet, «Iolanta» P. Chaikovskyi,«Traviata» by J. Verdi; ukrainian – «Taras Bulba» by M. Lysenko, «Zaporozhets za Dunayem» by S. Hulak-Artemovsky, «Natalka Poltavka» by M. Lysenko, «Kupalo» by A. Vakhnianyn, «Roksolana» by D. Sichynskyі, cantata-symphony «Kavkaz» and «Dovbush» S. Lyudkevich and many others. The Symphony Orchestra also conducts intense concert activities in Ukraine, Spain and Poland. Cooperates with many famous conductors and soloists, is a participant in many international festivals.

      Among the recent achievements of the staff of the oratorio «Illia» F. Mendelssohn and «Stabat Mater» by A. Dvorzhak, «Aleko» opera by S. Rachmaninov, «The Servant Turned Mistress» by D. Perholezi,«Love drink» by G. Donizetti, «Don Juan» and «Mad Day, or the Wedding of Figaro» by V. Mozart.

      The performance of the cycle of violin concerts by M. Skoryk was indivative  (conductor  People’s Artist of Ukraine I. Pylatiuk), also participation in the All-Ukrainian Violin Competition in Lviv, 2006, 2008, 2017, the International Guitar Competition (Lviv, 2007), International Double-Bass Competition «Golden Bass»(Lviv, 2013),International Competition Myroslav Skoryk(Lviv2018). In collaboration with the famous violinist A. Brussilovsky, the orchestra performed a series of CD recordings, where presented a number of world classical music masterpieces.
