Yaroslav Shemet – conductor (Ukraine – Poland)

Yaroslav Shemet is one of the most renowned Ukrainian conductors of the young generation, chief conductor at Coloratura Opera Lab and Coloratura Opera Fest, first guest conductor of the Neue Philharmonie Hamburg, guest conductor of the INSO-Lviv, lecturer and academic staff member at the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Academy of Music in Poznań (Poland), founder of such orchestras as Musique Moderne and Polish Symphony Orchestra.

He started his artistic education at the age of 3. Yaroslav is a graduate of the Academy of Music in Poznań (Poland) and the University of Applied Arts in Vienna (Austria). He founded his first orchestra and made his debut as a conductor at the age of 13.

His concert tour range includes Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, and China with such orchestras as Hamburg Neue Philharmonie, Prague Symphony, Philharmonie der Nationen, INSO-Lviv, Filharmonia Poznańska, Filharmonia Sudecka, Filharmonia Opolska etc.

Among others he took part in festivals in Bayreuth, Hong Kong, Munich. Yaroslav has collaborated with an array of soloists, including violinist Francesca Dego (Deutsche Gramophone soloist, Italy) and bassist Lars Danielsson (Sweden).

In 2018 Yaroslav made his debut as a conductor and artistic director in the Baltic Opera House in Gdańsk (Poland) in the production of Bizet’s opera “Les pêcheurs de perles” (The Pearl Fishers). As a guest conductor he collaborates with Odesa and Lviv Opera Houses.

Yaroslav also specializes in contemporary music having in his conductor’s portfolio more than 40 premieres.

Season 2018-2019 saw him as a conductor and assistant of Oksana Lyniv, the artistic director of YSoU (Youth Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine).
