Susanna Chakhoian – soprano (Ukraine)

General information

Susanna Chakhoian is the Honoured Artist of Ukraine (2009) and the soloist of the National Opera of Ukraine (since 1999).

She is a graduate of the A.V.Nezhdanova National Music Academy in Odesa, the piano class of L.Ginzbung (1997), as well as the P.Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine, the solo singing class of Ye.Miroshnichenko.

The singer’s repertoire includes such roles as: Gilda, Oskar (G.Verdi “Rigoletto” and “Un ballo in maschera ”), Lucia (G.Donizetti “Lucia di Lammermoor”), Musetta (G.Puccini “La Boheme”), Juliette (Ch.Gounod’s “Romeo et Juliette”), Rosina (G.Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville”), Serpina (G.B.Pergolesi’s “ La serva padrona”), Pamina (W.A.Mozart “Magic Flute”), Leila (G.Bizet’s “The Pearl Fishers”), Violetta (G.Verdi’s “La Traviata”) etc.

Susanna Chakhoian is a laureate of the international vocal competitions in Budapest (2nd prize, 2000), Vienna (public award, 2004) and Alcamo, Sicily (2nd prize and G.Verdi’ s music best performance prize, 2008). She often performs in solo concerts and chamber performances. The singer has been on tour to Italy, France, Holland, and Austria. She has been awarded the Order of St.Barbara and the Gold Medal of the Ministry of Culture of Armenia.
