Roman Lopatynskyi – piano (UА)

General information

Roman Lopatynskyy was born on 29 June 1993 in Kyiv. He showed outstanding music skills from the very early age and at the age of five he began to study the piano under Irina Barinova at Lysenko Kyiv Specialized Music School.

During his study years he became a laureate and awardee of numerous chamber and recital music international competitions, including the Young Performers’ Competition in Georgia (senior group) – Grand Prix, Gold medal, Special Prize (Georgia, 2009); VIII International Competition of Young Pianists in Memory of Horowitz (middle group) – First prize, Gold medal and 6 special Prizes, Second Prize at the Città di Gorizia International competition (Italy); Third prize at the Busoni International Piano Competition (Bolzano, 2015) – Special audience prize; Second prize at the Hamamatsu International Piano Competition (Japan, 2015); First Prize at ISAM Competition (Ochsenhausen, Germany, 2016); First Prize at the Luciano Luciani Competiton (Cosenza, Italy, 2017); Second prize and Special prize at the Verona Piano Competition (Italy, 2018); First Prize at the “Russian Piano Music” International Piano Competition (2019); Second Prize at the Piano Competition Compositores de España» (Spain, 2019).

Roman was awarded scholarships of numerous foundations, namely, “Children’s Friends” Foundtaion (2005-2008), the Swiss Charity Foundation (2008), Charity Foundation “Gifted Children – Future of Ukraine” of Vlada Prokayeva (2009, 2010), Leonid Kuchma Presidential Foundation “Ukraine”.

Roman performed with philharmonic orchestras in Dnipro, Lviv, Kyiv, Vinnytsia. He made recordings with the Ukrainian radio (chamber music, Concerto with orchestra) and the German radio (Concerto with orchestra).

In 2009, at the age of 16, ad a gifted young pianist, he was enrolled in the International Piano Academy in Imola (Italy) in the class of Boris Petrushanskyy.

Roman performed concerts in Poland, Israel, Italy, Morocco, Lichtenstein, Switzerland, Germany, Russia, France, Japan, Australia, USA ad Austria. He had recitals in Tokyo (Ginza Hall), New York (Steinway Hall), Paris (Alfred Corto Hall), Noosa Arts Theatre, Australia.

He is a regular participant of the international festivals, including MITO (Torino, Milan), Newport Festival (New Port, USA, 2014), concert-lecture in Sorbonne University (Paris), “Images of the contemporary pianism” Festival (Petersburg, 2015), Animato Festival (Paris, 2016), GogolFest (2015, 2916, Kyiv), LvivMozArt (Lviv, 2018, 2019), Kyiv Bouquet stage (2018, 2019).

In October 2017 he made his debut in Vienna at Musikverein Gläserner Saal and in April 2019 he debuted in Konzerthaus Schubert Säll.

Roman is an awardee of the Prize of Kyiv Mayor for the outstanding achievements of youth in the development of the capital of Ukraine – the Hero city of Kyiv.
