Duo Sonoro

General information

Duo Sonoro consisting of Ukrainian violinist Andrii Pavlov and pianist Valeriia Shulga was established as a constant ensemble more than decade ago. Developing international reputation of the duo confirmed with top prizes of international competitions, among them Johannes Brahms
(Austria, 2015), Salieri-Zinetti (Italy, 2016), Tallinn (Estonia, 2021), Plovdiv (Bulgaria, 2017), Stasys Vainiunas (Lithuania, 2014).

Concert “geography” of the ensemble comprises concerts on main venues in Ukraine as Kyiv Philharmony, Odesa Philharmony, Lviv Opera, Kharkiv Opera as well as performances at MonteLeon Chamber Music Festival in Spain, Randspiele Festival and Klangwerkstatt Berlin in Germany, Ciurlionis museum in Lithuania, Zeist Music Days in the Netherlandsc, also in Italy, Austria, Poland.

Graduates of Tchaikovsky National Music Academy in Kyiv, Andrii and Valeriia improved their skills under the guidance of professors Gyorgy Pauk, Andrej Bielow, Philip Setzer, Alexander Pavlovsky, Avedis Kouyoumdjian, Martha Gulyas, Johannes Meissl, Hatto Beyerle, Peter Schuhmayer, Bernd Goetzke.

Their intensive individual activity includes other important options. Andrii Pavlov as a soloist performed particulary with Vienna Radio Symphony, National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine, Lviv Philharmonic, New Era Orchestra, Kyiv Soloists. Valeriia Shulga has concert activities in other chamber groups and also as concertmaster. Both musicians recently started teaching and currently have relevant positions at one of the oldest music institutes of Eastern Europe, Reinhold Glier Municipal Academy of Music in Kyiv.
