Jakob Viñas is one of the most outstanding directors of the so-called “new generation”. His trained as a conductor, cellist and composer in Spain and Germany, at the Musikhochschule in Lübeck. His repertoire ranges from the Baroque to the twentieth century, including the most important works of Bach, Mozart and Beethoven. He has conducted at the Schleswig Holstein and Dresden Festivals (Germany). He has conducted, among others, the Musikhochschule Orchestra in Lübeck, the Orchestra of the T.U. dresden, the Schleswig-Holstein Festival Orchestra, the Cordoba Orchestra and the Ensemble Musica Illustrata. He has conducted international soloists such as Zahkar Bron, Wolfgang Schmidt, Natalia Pinschepenko, Arkadi Gudnikov or Priya Mitchell.

Conductor Jakob Viñas has written about the orchestras of the world: “Today we live in the ‘maturity’ of orchestras around the world. The vast majority of orchestras are made up exclusively of virtuosos and extraordinary musicians. The role of the conductor today is to interpret the works in depth, with the aim of making the whole orchestra sound with the same emotional and musical commitment that a great international soloist would.”

His performances stand out for always offering a great musical depth and attention to detail, getting the audience trapped and excited from the first moment of the concert.
