Jan Romanowski – violin (Poland)

General information

Jan Romanowski plays and teach how tu play on modern and period violin, and also viola. Doctor habilitatus of musical arts.
He works as a professor at the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz. He heads the Violin Department and teaches the violin class. He performed as a soloist and chamber musician with Trio Taklamakan, Rafał Błaszczyk and Aureliusz Goliński, with whom (on a period violin) recorded and released on CD two opuses “Sonatas for two violins” by Jean-Marie Leclair. In 2022, he released a solo CD album „Romanowski plays Duranowski” with „6 Caprices” by August Fryderyk Duranowski. Together with Maria Murawa-Fraska he premiered „Sonatas for two violins” composed in 2022 by Jarema
Jarosiński. This year saw the premiere of the CD album with recordings of these Sonatas.

In June this year, accompanied by Capella Bydgostiensis, he performed four Concertos by Vivaldi, constituting the Four Seasons cycle (Le quattro stagioni). It organizes music courses, workshops and festivals. Take part in the jury of national and
international competitions. He shares his experience with teachers of music schools in Poland and abroad, where he leads workshops and masterclasses. During 25 years of teaching, his pupils have won over 200 awards at national and international
competitions. He perfected his violin playing by taking part in master music courses in Poland and abroad. His artistic achievements include numerous recitals and concerts, e.g. with the State Lublin Philharmonic, recordings for Radio and Television in Lublin, as well as performances as part of the series of lecture concerts of the State Philharmonic in Poznań. In 1998-2001 he also collaborated with Goran Bregovic’s string orchestra and gave concerts all over the world.
