Pablo Veguilla – tenor
Pablo Veguilla, a tenor of Puerto Rican descent, is one of the finest up and coming talents to be heard on the lyric stage today. Mr. Veguilla is a graduate of Yale University’s Master of Music as well as the Central City, Opera Theater of Saint Louis, and Sarasota Opera Young Artists programs.
Mr. Veguilla made his professional operatic debut as Fenton in Verdi’s Falstaff with the New York Grand Opera, under the baton of Maestro Vincent La Selva. Other roles he sang with New York Grand Opera are Roberto in Puccini’s first opera Le Villi, Rodolfo in Puccini’s La Bohème, Marcello in Leoncavallo’s La Bohème, Lt. B.F. Pinkerton in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly, and the Duke of Mantua in Verdi’s Rigoletto. This past season, Mr. Veguilla returned to New York Grand Opera to reprise his role as Lt. B.F. Pinkerton in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly.
Abroad, Mr. Veguilla has performed the title role of Gounod’s Faust in Paris and Corsica with the Orchestre International du CROUS, Don José in Bizet’s Carmen with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Algeria, Ismaele in Verdi’s Nabucco with the Orchestre Philharmonique International in Paris, and Cavaradossi in Puccini’s Tosca with Oper Hautnah in Germany.
He has performed numerous roles with Opera Theater of Saint Louis, Yale Opera, Houston’s Opera in the Heights, Sarasota Opera, Opera Theater of Philadelphia, New York Grand Opera, and Operafestival di Roma, and Viva la Musica among others. Some of Mr. Veguilla’s other roles on the operatic stage are Tamino in Mozart’s Magic Flute, Alfred in Strauss’ Die Fledermaus, Alfredo in Verdi’s La Traviata, Chevalier Des Grieux in Massenet’s Manon, Elvino in Bellini’s La Sonnambula, Don Ottavio in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, and Nemorino in Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’amore.
On the concert stage, Mr. Veguilla most recently performed as the Tenor Soloist in the Mozart Requiem with the New European Philharmonic Orchestra on tour in France and Belgium. Also, Mr. Veguilla performed the Tenor Soloist in Verdi’s Requiem in Carnegie Hall with New York Grand Opera. He repeated his performance in Paris as well as Beethoven’s 9th Symphony with the Orchestre International du CROUS. He has also performed Bach’s Coffee Cantata, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, the Saint-Saëns Christmas Oratorio, the Bach Magnificat, and Handel’s Messiah with companies such as the Green Bay Symphony Orchestra, West Valley Opera Theatre, Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra, Amhurst Symphony, Yale Symphony Orchestra, the Hartford Symphony and Chorale, and the Orchestre Sinfonietta de Paris.
Mr. Veguilla is a two-time Metropolitan Opera National Council District Winner and Regional Finalist, and Winner of the 8th annual Alfonzo Cavaliere Memorial Scholarship. Mr. Veguilla has also received recognition from the Heinz Rehfuss Singing Actor Competition, the Palm Beach Opera Competition, and the Concours International de Chant de la Ville de Toulouse.
