Piano Duo Chipak– Kushnir

General information

As a Piano Duo, Olha Chipak and Oleksiy Kushnir form one of the most renowned ensembles in the chamber music scene. The Piano Duo Chipak– Kushnir is a regular guest on stages in Europe, the USA, and China, including in the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Sala Baldini in Rome, the Glazunov Hall in St. Petersburg, the Great Hall of the Warsaw Chopin Academy, the National Philharmonie in Kyiv, the Teatro Verdi in Trieste, Steinway Hall, the Lincoln Theatre, and the New World Center in Miami.

Their establishment on the international stage owes much to successes in important piano duo competitions:

  • Second Prize – TIM (Torneo Internazionale di Musica) (2000)
  • Second Prize – Chamber Music Competition – Caltanissetta (2000)
  • First Prize – Premio Seiler – Palermo (2002)
  • Second Prize – Palma d‘Oro – Finale Ligure (2002)
  • First Prize and Special Prize – Bialystok (Poland, 2002)
  • First Prize „Piano Duo in the 20th Century“ – Premio Valentino Bucchi (2003)
  • Second Prize and Audience Prize – Dranoff Two Piano Competition – Miami (2003)
  • First Prize and Special Prize – San Marino Piano Competition (2006)

The recording of works by Johannes Brahms, Max Reger, and Sergei Rachmaninoff won the Web Concert Hall Competition. GENUIN classics has also released other albums, one with music by Johannes Brahms and another entitled Masques featuring the first recordings of works by Igor Stravinsky, Maurice Ravel, Abram Chasins, Franz Liszt, and Sergei Rachmaninoff, both of which have received wide acclaim in the media.
Olha Chipak and Oleksiy Kushnir are currently teaching at the Rostock University of Music and Theater and at the Lviv National Music Academy, Ukraine.
Formative influences in their artistic development they got during academic years with Piano Duo Hans-Peter and Volker Stenzl as well as with Maria Krushelnytzka,
Nelya Pasteliak, Jozsef Örmeny.
