American-born Ukrainian conductor, composer, and educator Ryan Anderson is an ambitious emerging
voice within the contemporary classical musical landscape. As a musician, he is profoundly inspired by
his devout relationship with Ukrainian Orthodoxy, and his intellectual relationship with philosophy, in
addition to the domestic and international effects of global conflict today. Anderson draws inspiration
from his international experiences in Lviv, Ukraine, Vienna, Austria, Berlin, Germany, and New York
City, United States, both on and off the podium; Whether he is behind a piano composing a new work, on
the podium as the conductor of an orchestra, or in front of a classroom empowering students with
exceptional standards.
As a composer, Anderson is profoundly committed to writing minimalistic and hyper-realistic music
driven by global events, especially the ongoing Ukrainian conflict; He is additionally inspired heavily by
the reverent, contemplative, and sacred atmosphere that contributes to the soundscapes and energy that is
sensed almost entirely within the solemn walls of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. These physical and
metaphysical atmospheres have paved the way for a similar representation of tangible life and abstract
non-physical experiences for audiences through a sonic medium to recreate these generous and
mysterious experiences of life. Anderson utilizes non-musical objects from the material world to create a
hyper-realistic soundscape for the audience to become immersed in, solidifying the overall hyper-realistic
experiences the audience will possess, while entering a musical landscape that aims to engage the
audience in a manner that presents the material and non-physical world with a hyper-realistic lens.
As a conductor, Anderson has worked with the Moravian University Orchestra, the Collegium Musicum
New York, an orchestra in Berlin, Germany, and an ensemble in Vienna, Austria, to premiere his work
Atemberaubend. He is the Musical Director for Province 21 of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity in
addition to working as the Choral Music Director for Success Academy’s new Bronx K-12 campus in
New York City, United States. In the recent past, he has participated in conducting masterclasses in New
York City, United States, under the direction of Maestro Diane Wittry, a masterclass in Berlin, Germany,
under the direction of Maestro Gary Lewis, and in Lviv, Ukraine, notably under the direction of Maestro
Theodore Kuchar.
Whether preparing a cornerstone of the orchestral repertoire or writing a new viscerally emotional work,
Anderson seeks to accomplish performances defined by intention, musical integrity, emotional sincerity,
and intellectual honesty. As an ever-growing conductor, composer, educator, and humble servant to all
musicians and audiences, Anderson strives to grow intellectual wealth daily, inform his musical endeavors
endlessly, and relentlessly feed his desire to create, serving the world with the music he was born to
communicate to all ears that can and will listen.
