Wonyoung Jung – piano (KR) – violin

General information

Wonyoung is a remarkably talented violinist with her own unique tones and outstanding musicality. She distinguished herself in numerous competitions and performances, being acknowledged as the best.

As a teenager, she won the best prizes in many major competitions in Korea such as the Joong-Ang Music Competition. In 2013, she received the award for 2013 Michael Hill International Competition. Her education from eminent violinist Younguk Kim in Seoul National University has enabled her to develop tremendously. She studied in Yale University School of Music with world-renowned violinist Ani Kavafian and received Master of music degree with full scholarship.

Afterwards she moved to Germany to expand her field of music and received Konzertexamen degree with Prof. Ida Bieler from Düsseldorf Musikhochschule. She graduated with top honor and fully established herself as a professional musician.

She consistently participated in various master classes of noted musicians including Michaela Martin, Gerard Poulet, Shlomo Mintz, Ilya Kaler and strengthened her competence. Her solo performances with Neuen Philharmonie Westfalen, The Bucheon Philharmonic Orchestra, Gwangju Symphony Orchestra, The Seoul National University Orchestra, Korean Chamber Orchestra has proven her incredible musicianship and potential. Not only for her solo career but also  her passion and leadership for ensembles, chamber music, and orchestra has been fully acknowledged in various performances in communities including Seoul Arts Center and Sejong Arts Center. Her sufficient experience of performing chamber music has given her an opportunity to develop impressively as a musician.

Currently, she has been playing as a member of Korea Chamber Orchestra, and Ensemble Tonika.

She has also been actively contributing to education of music, teaching at Seoul National University, Seoul Arts high school, and Suwon University as a guest professor.
