A concert within the series “Pro et Contra. New Music Stage” took place in Lviv, hosted in one of the city’s most intimate chamber venues — the Temple of Trust at the Museum of Ideas. The event was dedicated to the dialogue between Baroque heritage and contemporary experimental music, shaping a dramaturgy that bridged different musical eras.
The program featured Nazar Stec (double bass), who presented a conceptual selection of works in which the Suite No. 1 for solo cello by Johann Sebastian Bach alternated with compositions by contemporary composers, forming a continuous musical narrative.
Among the performed works were excerpts from “Due pezzi brillanti” by Stefano Scodanibbio, “Esplorazione del bianco” by Salvatore Sciarrino, “Kadenza” by Teppo Hauta-aho, as well as the world premiere of “Ritual” by Valeriia Svyryda (Venera) and “Sonare for Double Bass Solo” by Mykhailo Chedryk. The structure of the program emphasized an expansion of the instrument’s technical and sonic possibilities, as well as its reinterpretation in a contemporary context.
The event was moderated by Stanislav Nevmerzhytskyi.
The concert took place in a highly intimate format, limited to a small audience, creating a focused listening environment and enabling close interaction between performer, music, and space.
The video recording was produced by the ArtStream team: Liudmyla Sekunda (camera operator), Danyil Sekunda (camera operator, editor), Ostap Manyliak (sound recording engineer), and Bohdan Sehin (recording producer).
