Masterpieces of Czech chamber music performed at the Lviv Philharmonic

14.10.2023
Description

On October 12 and 13, the Lviv Philharmonic presented a series of chamber concerts in partnership with the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Lviv and the Czech Center in Kyiv.

On October 12, compositions by Jan Dismas Zelenka, Jiří Antonín Benda, and Josef Mysliveček were performed. Iryna Kliuchkovska, soprano, Olha Shadrina-Lychak, harpsichord (Kyiv), Stepan Syvokhip, oboe, Serhiy Havryliuk, baroque violin, and Bohdan Havrylov, cello performed on stage.

On October 13, during the second event of the Autumn of Czech Music in Lviv, the Phoenix String Quartet performed two key quartets by composers Bohuslav Martin and Antonín Dvořák.

Despite thirty years of difference, their creative paths have many points of intersection, especially geographical ones – Prague, Paris, travels in America, and the landscapes of Czech towns, the distant and cherished homeland, hidden in their hearts. Bohuslav Martinů’s Quartet No. 1 and Antonín Dvořák’s “American” Quartet No. 12, which the composer himself called his most popular quartet, were written during a period of fascination with impressionism and the Parisian future.

We thank our listeners for their support and our partners for the cooperation!
