On June 28, the performance of the early music ensemble “Terra Barocca” took place. In their program, there were eight unique pieces from the Baroque era, including both works by legendary masters and music by unfairly forgotten composers. The event was called Baroque l’immortelle.
On June 29, the concert Prayer for Wassyl was successfully held. The concert program was focused on chamber music by both the latest authors and representatives of the late romantic era. All the selected works, written in the individual style of each of the artists, reflected the main trends in the development of Ukrainian instrumental music. Together, the works of Barvinskyi, Liatoshynskyi, Havrylets, Lysenko, and Skoryk became a prayer memorial to the hero of Ukraine, Wassyl Slipak. They were performed by the “Phoenix” quartet and Violina Petrychenko.
June 29 – listeners had the opportunity to hear the Dialogue of Modernity. The common point of contact was Ukrainian modern music, which etc.duo performs at each of its concerts, and in particular, this time there was a dialogue between the works of the latest era, vividly interpreted by the female performers.
“I am not afraid of anything. Only God” – these famous words of the opera singer, Hero of Ukraine Wassyl Slipak gave the title of the concert. Indomitability and the will to win are also marked by the famous work of Ludwig van Beethoven, which was not accidentally chosen for the program of the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Lviv National Philharmonic as part of the marathon in memory of Wassyl Slipak. The symbolic and inspirational story of Count Egmont from the Netherlands is told in the music of the overture of the same name. One of the most popular samples of the Polish musical avant-garde was also played – the work of Henryk Gorecki, the Third Symphony.
The last event of the marathon built another symbolic bridge between Ukraine and France — the mood of the Paris Opera, whose soloist was Wassyl Slipak, reigned for one evening in the Philharmonic Hall. It was here that the paths of the maestros of French music — Maurice Ravel, Francis Poulenc, Georges Bizet, Hector Berlioz — met, and this is far from the entire list of composers that were performed by marathon guest Serine de Labaume and Lviv pianists Oksana Rapita and Myroslav Dragan.
