28 Contrasts. Postludium

The postludium of the 28th International Festival of Contemporary Music “Contrasts” will be held in the Ukrainian piano style because of the famous duo of Oksana Rapita and Myroslav Dragan. In addition to works by Hennadiy Liashenko, Ihor Shcherbakov, Yevhen Stankovych and Bohdana Frolyak, a special piece of the program will be a collective work, performed for the piano for the first time (arrangement by O. Plaksiuk). Written in 1993 for the anniversary of the High Institute of Music (now the Lviv National Music Academy), thanks to the idea of composer and theorist Yarema Jakubiak, the piece was inspired by the theme of Stanislav Liudkevych from a composition written in 1945-1946 called “Theme with Variations” for violin and piano on a folk theme.
