Program

Without frivolity, but with a fantastic sense of humor and imagination: this is how the Baroque world and its two titans will appear in this concert. Georg Philipp Telemann, who was especially revered for his versatility, felt at ease in the genre of the French overture, repeatedly introducing melodic turns that took contemporaries’ breath away. This happened with his composition “La Lyra”.

It also happened to his godfather (yes, Telemann was the godfather of Carl Philipp Emanuel, the younger Bach) Johann Sebastian, who certainly respected Telemann and his work and was well versed in it. Friendly contacts formed the basis of networking in Germany at that time, and therefore another symbol of our concert will be the performance of a special group of young artists. At the end of the festival, the Baroque Chapel Orchestra of the Lviv National Music Academy, created on the joint initiative of the famous composer and musicologist Roman Stelmashchuk and harpsichordist Anna Ivaniushenko in 2014, will perform. Since then, every year young performers have been constantly improving their playing skills thanks to master classes by European musicians and experts in the interpretation of baroque music, so knowledge about Bach and his era is passed on and multiplied here.

As a sign of a community that boldly builds the future, the Baroque Chapel means more than just a name. Young people are turning to the old. An ancient sound is revived in young hands and announces a new hope. And it will also crown the Bach Marathon 2024 until next year.
