Golden autumn with a chamber-warm touch at the Lviv Philharmonic!
Discover the music of Czech composers from the Baroque and Classicism to the early twentieth century in the company of the best singers and instrumentalists. The program of the chamber series “Autumn of Czech Music in Lviv” includes works that have been proving their quality with time and the audience’s affection: we invite you to hear their specified sound on October 12 and 13.
Jan Dismas Zelenka, Jiří Antonín Benda, and Josef Mysliveček – we bet that you will discover these names with enthusiasm at the event on October 12, so let’s talk about the peculiarities of each of these composers:
Josef Mysliveček is one of two twins who gave up his career as a miller and became an academic in the famous Bologna on the same day as Maksym Berezovskyi!
The music of Jan Dismas Zelenka returned to the hearts of his listeners for a long time – after his death in 1745, when it lay under the dust for about 200 years! Meanwhile, in his homeland, he was known no less than Bach, and he loved the art of the fugue no less…
Jiří Antonín Benda is another brilliant secret in the world of Czech music; musicologists call him “the only true forerunner of Mozart”. He played in one of the best orchestras in Europe, studied under the masters, and finally, after one refusal to be appointed court chaplain, he impulsively left composition – all the more valuable for music lovers are his rare works.
