Program

The piano duet genre has recently gained wide favour among both composers and audiences. The program by talented Kharkiv residents, winners of international competitions Ihor Sediuk and Oleh Kopeliuk reveals its entire repertoire history in the incarnations of world and Ukrainian authors. During the evening, we will hear one of Franz Schubert’s last works, a sensual fantasy for piano for 4 hands, which is one of the iconic duet examples, original works by Ukrainian composers Volodymyr Ptushkin and Liudmyla Shukailo, and arrangements of well-known popular works by Bizet, Ravel, Brahms and Dvořák. There will be some new music as well: the concert will feature the premiere of contemporary Finnish composer Kirmo Lintinen. One way or another, the compositions chosen by the pianists will be associated with inexhaustible musical imagination and the dominance of dance.
