We invite you to the opening of the 26th concert season of the INSO-Lviv National Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra! An evening of sublime Ukrainian and Finnish music is waiting for you, which radiates love for the native land and fills with life-giving force.

Everything large-scale needs a solid foundation. Therefore, the INSO-Lviv orchestra also prepared thoroughly for the new season. The “Soil” concert is the first of the events of the 2024/2025 season, which we will dedicate to the elements of nature. In nature, as in music, you can find many clues, ideas, wisdom and harmony. And all this is definitely waiting for our listeners very soon. But let’s start with the classics, which give strength and energy, which are so necessary for our common struggle.

Love for the native land is the basis and support. And it is the idea of the native land that pervades the program that will sound for you on September 14 at 6:00 p.m. in the hall of the Lviv National Philharmonic. The famous Ukrainian composer of the last century, the laureate of the Shevchenko Prize, Lev Kolodub, created a number of works based on folk motifs, including two bright Ukrainian Carpathian rhapsodies for symphony orchestra. The first of them will be played at our concert, surprising the audience with unexpected contrasts, a unique Carpathian flavor and an unrestrained festive atmosphere. The symphonic luxury of Kolodub’s rhapsody will be picked up by a real pearl of world classics – Symphony No. 2 by the Finnish composer Jan Sibelius, written in 1902. About the Second Symphony, Sibelius said: “It is a confession of the soul”, and the Finnish public immediately called it “Patriotic” and even “Symphony of independence”. The fact is that it was at this time that Russian sanctions were in effect, suppressing the Finnish language and culture. So, after the success of the First Symphony and the famous symphonic poem “Finland”, the composer created another masterpiece, which became another guide and reference point for the Finnish people in the struggle for their own identity and freedom from the oppression of the empire.

All these meanings are quite consonant with our present. Therefore, we invite you to find your solid ground for new achievements and victories at the concert of the INSO-Lviv symphony orchestra.
