- Borys Liatoshynskyi (1895-1968, UA). “Ukrainian Quintet” Op. 42 (1942/1945)
Two of the most ambitious Ukrainian quintets. Views on the canonical chamber music genre. Each has its own story: Barvinskyi’s work was written in the concentration camp, and Liatoshynskyi’s was in evacuation. Each of them was not supposed to be born, but they ensured the development of Ukrainian music for at least the next 80 years. The program brings together representatives from the west and the center of the country who, being in a foreign land, lived and created for their homeland.
