Performers:
The project that won the hearts of our audiences last summer continues in the new concert season! Sofiia Fedyna and Orest Tsymbala present Songs of Our Strength 2.0!
What is this project about? It is about the songs we have known since childhood, songs in which we remember the polyphony of family singing. Songs that gently accompanied our first feelings and echoed through moments of loss. Songs that have become symbols of inner strength and resistance to the enemy, songs that people have carried with them into battle — and continue to do so. And songs that welcome us home, creating a sense of home when home is far away.
Even without the titles, you have probably already remembered some of these songs. We invite you to hear them performed by Sofiia Fedyna and Orest Tsymbala, accompanied by the Academic Instrumental Ensemble of Soloists “Vysokyi Zamok”, conducted by Andrii Yatskiv.
The programme features legendary Ukrainian Sich Riflemen, Plast and insurgent songs, as well as beloved Ukrainian classics: “We Were Born in a Great Hour,” “Oh, the Red Viburnum in the Meadow,” “Insurgent Tango,” “The Steppe Wind Has Blown,” “By the Campfire,” “The Mosquito Volunteered for the Insurgents,” “History,” “Hutsulka Ksenia,” “Family,” “I Will Go to the Distant Mountains,” “Cheremshyna,” “Silver Circle,” “Vodohrai,” and “Chervona Ruta.”
We believe this evening will inspire audiences to discover and explore their national roots and the authentic Ukrainian song tradition, while also serving as a worthy tribute to the memory of generations of Ukrainian Heroes.
