Programme:
Among the 500 concertos composed by Antonio Vivaldi, The Four Seasons holds a special place. This first programmatic cycle in the history of music is accompanied by twelve sonnets written by the composer himself. Vivaldi’s programme texts, in an authorized Ukrainian translation by Bohdan Kotiuk, introduce the audience to the atmosphere of music that “paints” images of the twelve months of the year.
The transcription of the orchestral cycle for violin and organ was made by Vitalii Pivnov, a leading figure in Lviv’s organ tradition and a master organ builder. Vivaldi’s music and poetry will be complemented by live painting by artist Olha Kuts, who will translate the musical and poetic expression into a palette of colours representing the twelve months that make up The Four Seasons.
