Program

Despite the tenth year of the long Russian-Ukrainian war, foreign musicians come to Lviv to express our unity and support our spirit. This time, one of the most famous of his generation, the Italian conductor Raffaelle Ponti, together with the Lviv National Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, will present a program of romantic and contemporary works.

An important peak of the event is the Concerto for oboe with orchestra. Along with wide melodic lines and a truly virtuosic ending, the inspired pastoral aesthetic is used. In this work, Eugene Goossens challenges the best virtuosos, because the Concerto requires great skill, and the gifted oboist, Stepan Syvokhip, will persuade the audience about it.

Meanwhile, the symphonic canvases of Jean Sibelius and Johannes Brahms will appear in new shapes, and Valentyn Sylvestrov’s reflections on the Ukrainian anthem will continue the line of his research into the possibilities of music. We are convinced that there is a hidden truth in the eternal thrill: to fight to hear the most important thing — and to meet life at its virtuoso rise.
