Today, 1 June, marks three years since the death of Myroslav Skoryk, an outstanding composer and musicologist, Hero of Ukraine, and Taras Shevchenko Prize laureate.
Myroslav Skoryk is a composer whose music will always be heard in every corner of the Lviv National Philharmonic, which has been named after him since September 2020. A modern and bold experimenter, he also cultivated his lyrical component through the works that will be performed today in the Maestro’s tribute programme. His work is filled with memories, prayerfulness, excitement and sadness. Enlightened, because in the end, we are left with his message and work. “A great dream is to leave all positions and just create and live for the soul,” the artist once said. On the third anniversary of his death, we remember with gratitude and adopt this impulse: to live and create, no matter what.

Despite the Maestro is no longer with us, he will always live in his compositions that are and will be performed not only in his native Lviv but also around the world, fascinating and inspiring thousands of people! His “Melody” has become a symbol of solidarity with Ukraine and is performed daily in various countries around the world, uniting thousands of people around our Motherland.
On this day, Lviv’s musical elite, close friends, colleagues and representatives of the Lviv National Philharmonic honoured the Maestro’s memory by laying flowers at his grave.
