A gift for lovers of Baroque music!
This program weaves together vocal numbers from the operas of Claudio Monteverdi, Henry Purcell, and George Frideric Handel with instrumental works. The natural flow of the evening is shaped by the emotional richness of the vocal scenes interlaced with chamber interludes, allowing the audience to experience each piece more deeply.

The selection of composers and works spans the evolution of the Baroque era—from Monteverdi’s early Baroque to Handel’s late style—and encompasses three major European centers: Venice, London, and Hamburg. The dramaturgy of the opening immerses listeners in the world of opera, full of passion and human conflict. It then moves into the sensuality and tragedy of Purcell, whose famous Dido’s Lament unites beauty with boundless sorrow. The concert concludes with Handel’s music—brilliant, flexible, and profoundly human—a dramatic arc leading from despair to hope.

The lineup of performers lends the program particular authority and appeal. The participation of British musicians in collaboration with the Ukrainian early music ensemble Terra Barocca, under the artistic direction of Anna Ivaniushenko, establishes an important cultural dialogue between Ukraine and Western Europe.
