Program

It is January when the world known composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart celebrates his Birthday!

Let’s celebrate together!

Lviv National Philharmonic named by M. Skoryk has prepared a series of concerts dedicated to the Vienna classic’s music! It is planned to be crowned by the most famous virtuoso compositions of the Master! Bright emotions and unforgettable impressions are to be found in January!

The second event will be the author’s project of the Academic Chamber Orchestra “Virtuosos of Lviv” – “Three Mozarts”. The festive concert with the participation of the ensemble and soloists will entirely consist the works by three Mozarts: father – Leopold, who was a great musician, composer and, without a doubt, a great manager, son – Wolfgang Amadeus, one of the most popular composers of today, and grandson – Franz Xaver ( Lviv Mozart), because most of the his life he lived and worked in our city!

“Miserere mei, Deus” by Italian composer and priest Gregorio Allegri will open the festive event! The legendary story from the life of little Mozart is connected with this work.

For a long time, the score of this work was “classified” and inaccessible to the general public, as the Vatican kept his only manuscript and wanted to keep the masterpiece in a secret. Copying “Miserere” was forbidden. Only musicians who performed it once a year in the Sistine Chapel had access to the score.

The general public gained access to the work thanks to the young Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, who visited the Vatican with his father in 1770. The 14-year-old Mozart, who heard the performance of “Miserere”, memorized it completely by ear and accurately recorded it from memory, thus creating the first illegal copy.
