“Rozkoliada” is a festive concert by lyre player Hordii Starukh, accompanied by the Lviv Virtuosos Chamber Orchestra, dedicated to the magic of Ukrainian winter songs.
The program features rare authentic carols from Podillia, the Kyiv region, Zhytomyr region, Bukovyna, Boikivshchyna, Hutsulshchyna, and the Lviv region. Most of them are secular carols, traditionally sung for members of the family. Like many other Ukrainian Christmas traditions, these songs represent some of the oldest manifestations of our musical culture, dating back to the princely era and even earlier.
All works are performed in orchestral arrangements by composer Volodymyr Pasichnyk, created on the basis of Hordii Starukh’s original arrangements from his album Svitlo (Light).
