Концертний зал Людкевича

He gave his country the talents of geniuses, the future of twentieth-century Polish music: Artur Rubinstein, Karol Szymanowski, Mieczysław Karłowicz. This was the contribution of the philanthropist Władysław Lubomirski, to whom the festival is dedicated.
History ruthlessly forgets the names of those who contributed to the formation of individual artists and entire schools. For a long time, the support of the aristocrat Lyubomyrsky was not mentioned because it contradicted Soviet views. Now we have the opportunity to restore historical justice and return the name of Prince Lubomirski to the list of the most prominent figures in Poland, and to thank him for discovering the talents of world-famous composers.
Traditionally, Lubomirski Festival takes place in autumn in concert halls in Poland and Ukraine. This year, the Lubomirski Festival will feature three concerts at the Lviv National Philharmonic, which will not only bring together music by composers supported by the festival patron, but also open the curtain on the life of the patron himself.

The programme of the concert will present works united by Polish-Ukrainian themes. In particular, the symphonic ballad “Grażyna” by Borys Liatoshynskyi, was written on the basis of the ballad of the same titl by Adam Mickiewicz. The music of the composition embodies the idea of self-sacrifice for the sake of others and love for the Motherland: in the story, Grażyna sacrifices her life to save her husband, Prince Litavor. Litavor, after discovering his wife’s tragic death and trying to atone for his guilt towards his homeland, enters the flames of the fire.
Every moment of our multifaceted life will be revealed with new colours during the performance, and will remind us that music exists for this diversity. Thus, the soloist of the evening, Lidiia Futorska, will present two masterpieces by Henryk Wieniawski and the Ukrainian Kosenko for violin and orchestra. In the performer’s graceful playing, you will be able to hear the composers’ characteristic intonation messages, as well as symbolic national motifs. Or you can simply contemplate the beauty of virtuoso playing, bold interpretation and exceptional skill. All this – together with the Lviv National Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Serhii Khorovets.
