Evening of Premieres

Program

It’s no secret that every concert at the Philharmonic is truly unique, because every time the musicians prepare new programs for the audience. But premieres occupy a special place among the works. To entrust the first performance of one’s brainchild is a sign of great affection and respect from the composer, and we are proud that hundreds of Ukrainian and world premieres have been performed in the Philharmonic. This is what inspired the idea of the Evening of Premieres, the first of which took place in September with great success.

On February 2, the Lviv National Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, in tandem with soloists Iwona Glinka and Volodymyr Veretelnyk, and conductor Volodymyr Syvokhip, will present eight new works by contemporary composers from Japan, Greece, Italy, and the United States.

This program is unique not only because of the premieres – we associate symphonic music evenings with large-scale works: symphonies, concertos for solo orchestra, and poems. However, the orchestra and soloists are preparing another surprise: miniatures will be performed. Composers don’t turn to orchestral miniatures very often, and not everyone is able to express their ideas so concisely.

So what should we prepare for? For impressions, new sound, and participation in the most important events for musical works – their premieres!
