On November 12 at 7:00 p.m., the foyer of the Lviv Philharmonic will host the next evening in the Barvinsky Salon series.
The artistic director of the project, Violina Petrychenko, has invited a new “guest” — this time, the spotlight will be on Mykola Kolessa, a prominent Ukrainian composer of the 20th century.
Kolessa and Barvinsky were both products of the same rich cultural milieu of Lviv — a city where modern Ukrainian music was born. They shared a common artistic vision: to unite deep national traditions with European trends, giving Ukrainian art a new and distinctive sound.
The evening’s program promises captivating contrasts — from chamber works such as Three Kolomyikas for violin and piano, to Kolessa’s art songs, and piano gems like Barvinsky’s cycle Love and Kolessa’s Prelude.
