Bravery, creativity, passion for freedom and democracy are our common European values. Today, Europe Day is officially celebrated in Ukraine for the first time. The Lviv Philharmonic is honouring the occasion with numeral events.
The Lviv National Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra is on tour in Stockholm, where a program of works by Ukrainian composers will be performed at the closing concert of the Swedish festival “Ukrainian Spring”. Here is the commentary by the conductor of the evening, Yaroslav Shemet:
“I am incredibly happy that we have the opportunity to present Ukrainian music in Europe again on an extraordinary day. We will be playing in Stockholm, in the heart of Europe, a program that is significant for all of us. There are works by Lysenko, Skoryk, and Liatoshynskyi. Ukrainian music has made a great resonance here, the royal family will be present, representatives of the European Parliament as well, all here to listen, support, and unite against a common evil. We, as Ukrainian musicians, are no longer just artists, we are on a mission to promote Ukrainian music and Ukrainian culture in order to gain even more support from Europe, to organize governments to help us fight against a common enemy.”
As part of the European Cultural Foundation’s marathon of celebrations, the “Muses Are Not Silent” project will be presented with a concert of Ukrainian music. We invite you to join the broadcast on 16:00 pm Kyiv time:
